LANSING — Following weeks of bipartisan negotiations, the House passed a sweeping overhaul of Michigan’s auto insurance system today. The final bill includes several provisions put forward by House Democrats including the elimination of non-driving rate-setting factors, guaranteed rate reductions and increased consumer protections. In response, state Rep. Matt Koleszar (D-Plymouth) issued the following statement:

“The bill we passed today is both the culmination of weeks of bipartisan effort that puts us on the path toward providing real relief to the families of Michigan. There is still more work to be done to ensure lower rates without sacrificing our world-class coverage, but I believe that this bill follows through on the commitments we’ve made to our communities.”
