LANSING — Following weeks of bipartisan negotiations, the House passed a sweeping overhaul of Michigan’s auto insurance system today. The final bill includes several provisions put forward by House Democrats including the elimination of non-driving rate-setting factors, guaranteed rate reductions and increased consumer protections. In response, state Rep. Angela Witwer (Delta Township) issued the following statement:

“After decades of trying to reach an agreement on auto-insurance reform, I am extremely proud to be a part of this historical day where the Legislature will finally get it done. This bipartisan plan will lower rates and put money back into the pockets of Michiganders, where it belongs. I applaud Gov. Whitmer and leadership on both sides for their hard work and cooperation – the people of Michigan will be better off because of it.”
